Latest endorsement of the CLME+ SAP

IOCARIBE 35th Anniversary, International Marine Science Conference

May 5, 2017 – The International Marine Science Conference, organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and hosted by the Colombian Ocean Commission, took place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia on April 24th and 25th, 2017.  This event was organized to celebrate the 35th anniversary of IOCaribe, the regional Sub-Commission of IOC-UNESCO covering the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions. Towards an Integrated Reporting Mechanism for the CLME+ SAP

March 27, 2017 – The Global Environment Facility (GEF), through its International Waters (IW) Focal Area, financially supports the adoption of the “Large Marine Ecosystem approach” for the collaborative, transboundary management of shared marine resources. In this context, the GEF and UNDP foster the adoption of a cyclical approach of joint (a) Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) and (b) Strategic Planning. CLME+ SAP and Project Actions underscored at the Cartagena Convention IGM

March 20, 2017 Country representatives from the wider Caribbean Region met in Cayenne, French Guiana from 15-17 March 2017 for the Seventeenth Intergovernmental Meeting (IGM) of the Action Plan for the Caribbean Environment Programme and Fourteenth Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection and Development of the Marine Environment of the wider Caribbean Region (“Cartagena Convention”). Meeting of the Regional Working Group on IUU Fishing

March 06, 2017 – The first Meeting of the CRFM/OSPESCA/WECAFC-FAO Regional Working Group on Illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (RWG IUU) was held 1-2 March 2017 at the UN House in Barbados.  The RWG IUU was established at the 15th Session of WECAFC which took place in 2014 in Trinidad and Tobago. Meeting of Interim Coordination Mechanism for Sustainable Fisheries

March 1, 2017 – Three Regional Fisheries Bodies – CRFM, OSPESCA and WECAFC-FAO – met on the afternoon of the 28 February 2017 at the UN House in Barbados to discuss opportunities for enhanced collaboration related to important fisheries management topics identified under the 10-year politically approved CLME+ Strategic Action Programme (SAP).
